Best jobs in America: The 18 top tech and data roles

For the second year in a row, data scientist remains the top job in America, according to job site Glassdoor. Technology and data jobs dominated this year’s rankings, with seven of the top 10 in the IT field, and four of the top 10 in data management. Some 18 of the top 50 jobs were in tech and data fields.

The Glassdoor Job Score is determined using three key factors: earning potential based on median annual base salary, job satisfaction rating and number of job openings.

The jobs that made this list stand out across all three categories. The Glassdoor Job Score is based on a 5-point scale (5.0 = best job, 1.0 = bad job). For a job title to be considered, it must receive at least 100 salary reports and at least 100 job satisfaction ratings shared by U.S.-based employees over the past year. The number of job openings per job title represents active job listings on Glassdoor as of Jan. 1, 2017.
