Capital Insurance Group has appointed John Halberstadt as its new chief information officer and vice president, the company announced.

Halberstadt joined CIG in July 2015. As CIO, he will be responsible for establishing CIG’s information technology strategy and managing all of the P&C insurer’s IT resources.

"Capital Insurance Group is an exceptional organization, with a stellar reputation, storied past and bright future," said Halberstadt, in a statement. "I'm enthusiastic to have this great opportunity here at CIG to define and execute upon a holistic, business-focused technology strategy that will enable, accelerate and amplify our solutions and service to our Agents and policyholders."

Halberstadt was previously SVP of customer experience innovation at Next IT, CIO of United General and VP of information technology at Fidelity National. He brings more than 20 years of senior-level technology experience to the position.

"More than any other factor, CIG's success will be defined by the ability to deliver a technology experience that is concise and intuitive,” said Arne Chatterton, president and CEO of CIG. “John has quickly organized a quality, engaged team that is focused on consistent delivery and ease of doing business for our agents, employees and policyholders."
