Chad Hersh, formerly managing director at insurance research and advisory firm Novarica, has joined the Nolan Company, an insurance management consulting firm. Hersh has more than 15 years of experience in the insurance industry and is recognized as an expert on insurance IT strategy and core systems replacement.
“I’ve been preaching for 11 years about the importance of modern, flexible core systems, and for most of that time I’ve been helping them pick the right core systems for their needs,” Hersh said. “Now, with more than 100-replacement projects per year happening just for policy administration systems, I feel like it’s time to help carriers with the bigger picture, both through operations and strategy consulting at Nolan and with the Nolan/Novarica alliance.”
The Nolan/Novarica alliance, also announced today, is intended to provide enhanced offerings to both firms’ clients. Hersh will manage the alliance.
“Many strategic and operational improvement efforts start—or end—with a large technology initiative. Understanding the CIO's point of view, as well as those of their C-level counterparts, is a critical part of our business, and Chad's work with CIOs and core technology upgrades over the past decade has given him great insight into both," said Steve Discher, EVP of Nolan.
Hersh said he wants to bring Nolan’s operations and process consulting to insurance CIOs, who he described as natural entry points for transformational consulting efforts, including process reengineering.
“The alliance, on the other hand, will allow us to help carriers from both the process and the technology sides of things, to not only select the best vendor for their needs but to do so in a broader context of the changes they’ll need to make to their operations, processes, and organizations to maximize both their chances for a successful implementation and the benefits they incur from the project,” Hersh said.
