Chartis Names Carter Chief Underwriting Officer

Former Zurich Chief Underwriting Officer Tim Carter has been named chief underwriting officer for Chartis Global Commercial Insurance. He will be responsible for underwriting leadership, strategy and governance for the financial lines, as well as specialty, property, casualty and global risks solutions businesses.

“Tim will lead our efforts to enhance risk selection and underwriting tools, as well as ensure greater consistency in the underwriting process worldwide,” said John Doyle, CEO of global commercial insurance. “We are pleased to have Tim play a key role within Chartis’ global commercial management team as we continue to refine the structure of the business as part of the corporate reorganization announced earlier this year.”

At Zurich, Carter also served as European chief underwriting officer, underwriting director for personal lines, and pricing director for commercial and corporate business in the U.K. Carter began his career as an actuarial consultant for Watson Wyatt.
