CNA Appoints EVP of P&C Claims Worldwide

Andrew Pinkes has been appointed EVP of worldwide P&C claim by CNA Financial Corp., effective May 18. Pinkes will report to Tom Motamed, chairman and CEO. Pinkes will be responsible for claim strategies and operations for CNA’s $6.5 billion worldwide P&C Operations. Pinkes will replace George Fay, who last year announced his plans to retire in 2015, following a transition period with Pinkes.

“Since joining CNA in 2006, George Fay and CNA’s Worldwide Claim team have built a solid foundation, and I am confident Andrew will continue the work to build a world-class claim organization to serve our customers,” Motamed said. “Andrew is highly respected and brings extensive leadership experience and a deep understanding of insurance claims.”

Pinkes has more than two decades of insurance industry experience, and has managed both domestic and international P&C lines, including specialty. Most recentl,y he was the global head of claims for the XL Group where he was responsible for claim strategy and support for 23 underwriting areas across 20 countries and 36 offices, CNA said.

Before joining XL, Pinkes held senior positions at The Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc., including EVP of Claims. He began his insurance career at The Travelers, where and served as SVP and general counsel of the Special Liability Group.
