Dodd to Address IIABA

The Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America will welcome Sen. Chris Dodd (D-Conn.) to their Large Agent/Broker and CEO dinner held on March 5, during the association’s Legislative Conference & Convention.

Dodd, chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing & Urban Affairs, recently announced he would not run for re-election after serving five terms in the Senate.

“The Big ‘I’ Large Agent and Broker Roundtable is honored that Sen. Dodd will be addressing our annual event,” John Murray, chairman of the IIABA Large Agent and Broker Roundtable and CEO, president and director of Rose & Kiernan Inc., said in a statement “Sen. Dodd understands the challenges our industry is facing and we look forward to hearing his perspective.”

Charles Symington, Jr., IIABA SVP for government affairs, said the association looked forward to working with Dodd as he completes his Senate career.

“Sen. Dodd is a true expert, and has long been a leader on business and insurance issues that directly impact independent insurance agents and brokers and companies,” Symington said. “He truly understands the important role our members play in communities across the country. In 2010, we look forward to continuing to work with him on the pending financial services legislation, and many other critical issues that impact our members, small businesses and all insurance consumers.”
