Esposito Accepts CIO Post at The Hartford Life

The Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. today announced that Mark Esposito has been named CIO for The Hartford’s life operations. Esposito will report to The Hartford’s Enterprise CIO Brian O’Connell, and is accountable to Sharon Ritchey, EVP and director, Hartford Life Global Operations & Technology.

Serving as acting CIO on an interim basis since October 2008, Esposito came to the Hartford with more than 25 years of technology industry experience. He will continue to be responsible for developing and implementing an information technology strategy across all the business segments of The Hartford’s life operations, and supporting the transition to an integrated, enterprisewide IT model at The Hartford, said the company.

"Mark’s decisive leadership style and achievements in The Hartford’s Life operations, combined with his deep industry experience makes him uniquely qualified to take on this challenge,” says O’Connell.

Esposito defines his key objectives as leading and managing IT talent, responding to ever-changing short-term business goals, reducing cost and complexity in process and platforms and supporting business leaders’ top-line growth plans.

“Mark has demonstrated the ability to foster strong, collaborative relationships at all levels with in IT not only in The Hartford’s Life operations, but also across our business with our property and casualty and corporate operations partners,” says Ritchey. “Equally important, his strong character and leadership has helped IT employees navigate a challenging 2008.”

Esposito joined The Hartford in February 2006 after spending more than 20 years with Phoenix Life; where he last served as VP, information technology of the insurer’s individual life and annuity business, supporting sales, underwriting, service and financial systems.
