Former CIO Named President of Berkshire Hathaway Travel Insurance

Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection (BHTP), a division of Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance, has named Dean Sivley as President.

Sivley is a travel industry veteran, but this is his first stop on the insurance side. However, his history is in technology. He last was CEO of GroundLink, an online executive car service, and chief eBusiness officer of Travel Guard’s global operations. He also was SVP and COO of travel site Orbitz and CIO of Rosenbluth travel agency.

“A proven leader who understands our business and the travel industry, Dean is the perfect individual to build on the successful launch of our brand and travel insurance product line,” said John Noel, the current president of BHTP who is stepping aside due to health problems.

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) purchased MyAssist and Insure America in January 2014, merging them into the the travel insurance brand.

“We have been very fortunate to have John Noel lead our entry into the travel insurance business, and now to advise our growing operations. John and his family have the full support and best wishes of the entire BHSI organization,” said Sanjay Godhwani, SVP of BHSI.
