GTS Names Couto VP of Operations

Crawford & Co., an independent provider of claims management solutions, has named Stephen Couto VP of operations for Global Technical Services (GTS) in the United States. In his new role, Couto will concentrate on GTS client relations, overall quality of investigation and reporting, account management and GTS growth.

Since joining Crawford in 2008, Couto has served as the liaison between GTS and Crawford's U.S. Property & Casualty division, working with global markets and sales relating to the two business units.

"Steve has been in the insurance industry for more than 30 years and brought to Crawford significant experience as a claims executive and senior adjuster," says Bill Johnstone, SVP for GTS – Americas. "We expect that his skills will be a tremendous asset as we seek continuous improvement in service to our GTS clients and additional growth in this market-leading offering."

Before coming to Crawford, Couto served in executive positions with several U.S. and international insurers, focusing largely on claim operations and major losses. He began his career as a multi-line adjuster with Liberty Mutual and moved to senior claim positions with other insurance companies, where he adjusted and supervised management of property losses.
