Guidewire Adds IBM’s Cognos Option to Core Suite

Guidewire, a core systems software provider for the property/casualty industry, announced an addition to its InsuranceSuite package: the option of IBM’s Cognos Business Intelligence software as a pre-integrated reporting option that works in tandem with the suite to accrue data in the areas of underwriting, policy administration, claims management and billing.

"Property/casualty insurance is a very information-rich industry," said Karlyn Carnahan, principal at Novarica. “Siloed systems, incompatible data models and legacy technology have hindered the industry's ability to fully benefit from its data. Tightly integrating BI capabilities with core claims solutions gives P&C insurers the ability to leverage rich claims data for better decision making."

The option to use Cognos adds an outside contributor to the customizability of the vendor’s core suite.
