HighRoads, a provider of employer health care compliance, is launching an online application by which employees can access changes in their benefits plans, receive customized summaries of their health and welfare coverage, and search for plan features.

Communicating faster, more accurate information about employees’ health plan coverage is a hot button affecting all employers as federal health care reform begins to take effect, according to HighRoads. Employers are said to demand a faster, easier electronic method of communicating current benefit information to their employees, to simplify and ease the complex communication of new Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) plan changes.

HighRoads says its Web application will enable electronic dissemination of additional PPACA communication documents to employees as soon as they are available, and that it has a proven solution to ensure compliance with Department of Labor and Health and Human Services regulations, demonstrating a significant return on investment to create and manage employers’ Summary Plan Descriptions.

HighRoads says it has enhanced its SPD technology by creating an integrated Web app by which employees can access plan updates and check on coverage features through intelligent searches, which can be made on enrolled and eligible plan SPDs.
