Humana Acquires Anvita Health

Humana Inc. has acquired Anvita Health, a health care analytics company. Humana uses Anvita's Insight engine currently; Anvita Health will continue to operate independently as a subsidiary of Humana.

Founded in 2000, Anvita provides analytics solutions that produce clinical insights for companies wanting to improve quality and lower the cost of health care for their members and clients, says Humana. The Anvita Insight engine analyzes health data from myriad sources and is highly scalable.

Humana says it already uses Anvita’s Insight engine to identify members’ gaps in care and drug-safety concerns. Based on insights generated by Anvita, Humana initiates automated messaging to members, health care providers and its own service associates to help ensure that members and their care providers are getting information they need, when they need it.

Anvita Health will continue to operate independently as a subsidiary of Humana, serving customers at all points in the health care ecosystem. Humana says the acquisition of Anvita is not expected to have a material impact on Humana’s financial earnings guidance at least through the end of 2012.
