Health insurer Independence Blue Cross (IBC) has launched a Windows 8 tablet application. The app was developed on the multi-channel platform of Kony Inc., an application platform and packaged applications provider. It recently went live in the Windows 8 application store.
IBC began working with Kony in 2012 to develop member-facing apps for Android and iOS smartphones, Kony says. Recently, IBC and Kony began building a series of new apps for tablets, mobile web and other channels, attempting to leverage the same code base used by IBC's existing apps. Kony says its Windows 8 tablet app for IBC offers members a number of features, including electronic ID cards, a mobile provider finder, personal health records, account balances and multi-year claim history.
Later this month, IBC plans to introduce similar capabilities for its mobile web channel and, this fall, the company will launch apps for iOS and Android tablets.
