Insurtech Hartford announced the winners of its 2021 Innovation Challenge, with the top prizes going to PainWorth, Otonomi and CoverHero, according to a press release.

This year, the companies gave virtual presentations to a panel of insurance and technology experts. The competition drew in almost 100 submissions from 12 countries across Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Australia. It was sponsored by Travelers, Launch Hartford, Amica, Beazley, Hartford Steam Boiler, CGI, and Appian.

PainWorth was the winner of the Travelers Emerging Product Category, with Saya and Sola as runners-up. Otonomi won the Judges All-Around Favorite Award, with Serenus and Protosure after them. CoverHero, with WeAnalyze and MotionsCloud following, won the Best Emerging Insurtech category, per the release.

“Each time we hold any kind of innovation initiative, the solutions presented get more mature and sophisticated,” said Stacey Brown, founder of ITH, in a statement. “We are very pleased with the number of submissions, the industry participation, and would like to congratulate all the winners on their impressive accomplishments.”

In the same press release, Insurtech Hartford announced that the 2021 Insurtech Hartford Symposium will be an in-person event on October 26 and 27. The first symposium was held in 2019.

“With reliable vaccines now in widespread distribution, it’s time for the InsurTech community to get back to business as usual,” said Brown. “There are valuable connections to be made and insurance problems to be solved. InsurTech Hartford and our upcoming Symposium are at the ground floor of innovation strategy plans throughout the industry. You have to be here in October in order to push your business forward.”
