Metlife hires new tech leader from BOA

MetLife has hired Bill Pappas as EVP and head of global technology and operations.

Pappas, who last was with Bank of America, will take the job on Nov. 19. He reports to president and CEO Michel Khalaf.

“With his vast experience leading technology and operations at the highest levels of the financial services industry, Bill will be a valuable addition to our leadership team,” Khalaf said. “Bill is a strategic thinker who understands that to win in the marketplace we must differentiate ourselves — by delivering an outstanding customer experience, fostering a culture of innovation, and embracing operational excellence.”

At BOA, Pappas washead of operations for the consumer, small business, wealth management and private banking businesses. He also led the global business services team. Before that, he was CIO for BOA's global wholesale banking business, head of global capital markets operations, and head of technology and operations for the Europe, Middle East & Africa and Asia Pacific regions. He also served as the global treasury payment operations executive responsible for all global payment operations, based out of London.
