NAIC Elects 2011 Officers

Members of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) elected its 2011 officers: Susan E. Voss, Iowa Insurance Commissioner, is president; Kevin M. McCarty, Florida Insurance Commissioner, is president-elect; Kim Holland, Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner, is VP; and James J. Donelon, Louisiana Insurance Commissioner, is secretary-treasurer. The NAIC says the newly elected officers will assume their duties on Jan. 1, 2011.

Susan E. Having begun his career in public service in 1988, Kevin McCarty was appointed commissioner of the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation in 2003, and is responsible for Florida's insurance market, including oversight of company solvency, policy forms and rates, market investigations and new insurance business, says the NAIC.

Kim Holland was elected Oklahoma’s insurance commissioner in 2006; is a former board member of the Oklahoma Health Care Authority and the Oklahoma State Employees Benefits Council; and the recipient of the statewide 2007 Public Service Champion of Health, which recognizes her contributions to reducing uninsured in Oklahoma.

James J. Donelon was appointed as Louisiana insurance commissioner in 2006; is a retired State Judge Advocate for the Louisiana Army National Guard, has served as chief deputy commissioner and executive; and is a former parish council chairman and state representative, where he chaired the committee on insurance, according to the NAIC.
