Although 2008 is less than three weeks away, the industry is about to experience the benefits of a variety of educational opportunities designed to help insurers capitalize on the technologies that will enable them to do more business, and do it better.

It’s no secret that the growing number of Baby Boomer consumers seeking financial services products presents carriers with certain distribution challenges. LOMA has made this topic a keystone to its Distribution Technology Conference, Jan. 28-30, 2008 in Tampa, Fla. The meeting’s focus includes a discussion of the key drivers changing the marketplace, solutions that will drive sales and enable effective relationships with the distribution chain, and technology that will help streamline a host of processes that make increased business a “good thing.”

Piggybacking on that conference is LOMA’s Emerging Technology Conference, Jan. 30-Feb. 1, 2008, also in Tampa, and the group has been busy setting its agenda for what they are calling a “crystal ball” glimpse into outsourcing and intellectual property issues, globalization, market change and breakthrough technologies.

The timing is right for this conference, as it follows on the heels of the official merger of Atlanta-based LOMA with Windsor, Conn.-based LIMRA, the insurance association that focuses on providing marketing and distribution educational opportunities to the industry. The two industry organizations will function under the umbrella of LL Global Inc.
The merger will allow the new team, LL Global, to leverage the industry’s investment in LOMA’s e-learning platform and expand both companies’ global training programs. LOMA will continue to conduct research and benchmarking to help guide members to decisions on products, marketing and distribution from its offices in Atlanta, while LOMA will proceed with its education programs that work to develop member companies’ human capital.
