New York Life Site Wins Top Honor

New York - New York City-based New York Life Insurance Co.’s consumer Web site was best in the nation among insurance and annuity companies in the fourth quarter of last year, according to Dalbar Inc., a Boston-based company that tracks Internet innovation.

Rounding out the Top 5 insurance company consumer sites, all considered “excellent” by Dalbar, were Lincoln National Corp., Philadelphia; Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co., Milwaukee; AXA Financial Inc., New York; and Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Co., Springfield, Mass.

Dalbar designates companies ranked sixth through 18th as “very good.” In descending order they were Fidelity, Pacific Life, TIAA-CREF, Guardian Investor, Western Southern, Nationwide, AIG Valic, Prudential Financial, The Hartford, Thrivent Financial, State Farm, MetLife and USAA. 

Dalbar established the WebMonitor program in 1999 to track Web site innovations across the financial services industry and to identify the industry's best sites, the company says.

Rankings are determined by points for functionality, usability, consistency, behavior-centric support and content, according to the company.
