Northwestern Mutual “Most Admired” for 25 Years

Milwaukee — In its 2008 annual survey, FORTUNE magazine ranked Northwestern Mutual as "America's Most Admired" in the life/health insurance industry. This marks the 25th striaght year Northwestern Mutual has led its industry in the survey of industry professionals and analysts.

"To land on top for a quarter century is quite an honor," says Edward Zore, Milwaukee-based Northwestern’s president and CEO. "This is a tremendous accomplishment when you consider that no other company in any industry has been named 'America's Most Admired' for 25 out of 25 years. We are enormously proud to be recognized by our peers and industry experts in this way. It's a powerful testimonial to the job we're doing — providing financial security to our clients."

All "America's Most Admired" industry rankings are featured in FORTUNE magazine's March 17 edition, available on newsstands March 10.

Eight key attributes were used to calculate a company's overall 'corporate reputation' score. Northwestern Mutual was voted first in the key attributes of: quality of management, quality of products and services, long-term investment, financial soundness, employee talent, social responsibility and use of corporate assets.

The remaining top five "Most Admired" companies ranked in the life/health insurance category include New York Life, Massachusetts Mutual Life, Principal Financial and Prudential Financial. Northwestern Mutual joins Johnson Controls as the only two Wisconsin-based companies in FORTUNE'S survey to top their respective industries.
