Progressive launches online quoting for commercial lines

Progressive has launched an online quoting system designed for small business owners.

The BusinessQuote Explorer (BQX) quoting platform provides online quotes based on the needs of each applicant, including business owners, worker’s compensation, general liability policies, and professional liability lines.

The Progressive Corp. headquarters is seen in Mayfield Village, Ohio on Wednesday, January 18, 2006. Progressive Corp., the first of the 10 biggest U.S. insurers to report fourth-quarter results, said profit fell 32 percent on claims from Hurricane Wilma. Sales dropped for the first time in five years.

The launch comes as commercial and small-business insurance is increasingly being targeted by the insurtech sector. A survey earlier this year by LexisNexis said that commercial carriers should focus on automation and leveraging big data in order to stand out from the crowd.

“We understand the number of demands today’s small businesses faced with and are constantly looking at ways we can innovate the process of quoting business insurance to save them time and alleviate their questions and concerns,” said John Barbagallo, president of commercial lines for Progressive.

The branding for the platform is based on Progressive’s HomeQuote Explorer, launched in 2017.
