Protective Life Names New Chief Risk Officer

Protective Life Corp. appointed Michael Temple as EVP and chief risk officer, effective Dec. 3. In his role, Temple will lead the company’s Enterprise Risk Management program. This program includes risk culture and governance, modeling, and risk reporting. He will be a member of the Protective Life’s executive leadership team, reporting to John D. Johns, chairman, president and CEO.

Protective says Temple most recently served as SVP and chief risk officer at Unum Group in Chattanooga, Tenn. He has more than 27 years of experience in a variety of capacities in the life and health insurance industry. Most recently, he spent seven years as chief risk officer at Unum.
