QBE the Americas Announces New Head of Claims

New York — QBE the Americas last week announced the appointment of Dean Harring to the new position of U.S. head of claims. He joins the company with more than 30 years experience helping insurers manage loss costs, retain customers and produce higher net operating income.

Harring comes on board from GAB Robins North America Inc., where he served as EVP, chief claims officer and chief operations officer for the past two years. His prior experience includes senior management positions with several large insurers. In 2005, he founded and became principal member of Claim Diagnostics LLC, a consulting firm specializing in property/casualty insurance claims operations.

In his new role, Harring will oversee the claims operations for QBE Specialty, QBE the Americas' insurance partnership division; QBE Regional, the company's regional insurance division that includes General Casualty, Unigard, Farmers Union Insurance and QBE Agri Insurance; and QBE Reinsurance. He assumes management responsibilities for the overall claims operations of QBE the Americas, and will create uniform standards and facilitate better communication between its individual claims units.

"Dean joins QBE with a solid track record in claims and litigation management, and significant expertise in orchestrating operational success stories," says Peter Maloney, chief legal officer, QBE the Americas. "The leadership and insight he brings from working in property/casualty companies of all sizes and varied environments will help QBE the Americas continue to prosper."
