GUIDEWIRE RELEASES VERSION 3.0 OF POLICYCENTER

Guidewire Software Inc., San Mateo, Calif., announced the release and immediate availability of Guidewire PolicyCenter 3.0, an all lines underwriting and policy administration system. Guidewire PolicyCenter 3.0 is a 100% Web-based system-of-record optimized to make it easier for producers to do business with insurance carriers with responsive collaboration, improve underwriting results leveraging business rules-driven automation and process management, and bring new products to market quickly through core policy system flexibility, according to the company.

This third release of PolicyCenter consolidates a large number of refinements reflecting real-world implementation and production experiences of insurers engaged in an early customer program over the past three years. Featured enhancements in version 3.0 include flexible producer administration model, enhanced account and contact management, more productive user experience, simplified out-of-sequence endorsement handling and refined data management layer, the company says.

Designed to support both personal and commercial P&C lines (including workers' compensation), PolicyCenter streamlines insurers' front and back office processes, from new business submission and quoting through policy renewals.

SEARCHABLE, MULTI-MEDIA DATA PLATFORM

Full Capture Solutions Inc., an East Hartford, Conn., provider of business analytic and search technologies for the insurance industry, introduced the "Semantic 360 Data Mart." This service encompasses the rapid, low-cost development and hosting of a searchable, multi-media and multi-level data mart, according to the company.

Semantic 360 Data Mart is designed to provide a comprehensive platform for insurance business analytics that optimizes the value of unstructured data. Digital content related to a claim - structured data, unstructured text, coverage parameters, imaged documents, digital photos, audio and video - is aggregated. Structured and unstructured data, along with "scraped" text from imaged documents are consolidated into a searchable format. In addition to unit claim views, data mart roll-ups are provided by line of business, agent, writing company and holding group.

LOCATION INTELLIGENCE INTEGRATED DASHBOARD

Pitney Bowes MapInfo's Location Intelligence Component (LIC) now integrates with Xcelsius 2008, a data visualization tool from Business Objects, an SAP company, that is designed to enable users to create detailed and insightful dashboards from any data source. Organizations using Xcelsius 2008 can now combine business intelligence reporting, query and analysis environments with Pitney Bowes MapInfo's location-based data, visualization and interactive spatial analysis capabilities to make more insightful business decisions, according to Pitney Bowes.

According to the company, the location intelligence component provides users with:

* Geographic visualization - Adding the LIC to business intelligence documents enables users to detect spatial patterns, trends and view relative performance metrics that are often impossible to see using only reports, charts and graphs.

* Bi-directional interaction - The contents of the business intelligence report and geographic component on a map are synchronized while performing standard operations. This allows an analyst to quickly view the same information in the format most applicable to make decisions.

* Spatial filtering - The LIC's geographic filtering enables users to incorporate a spatial dimension when analyzing and modifying a report to show location-based relationships and clustering trends.

* Enriched business intelligence data - Demographic, risk, weather and other location data can be used with the LIC to enrich and add value to the core business intelligence data in the user's data warehouse.

NEARPOINT INTEGRATED WITH CONTENT ARCHIVE AND NETAPP STORAGE SOLUTIONS

Mimosa NearPoint from Santa Clara, Calif.-based Mimosa Systems Inc. has integrated with Sunnyvale, Calif.-based NetApp storage and data management solutions for enhanced archiving control and protection on several NetApp technologies, including NetApp SnapManager for SQL Server, SnapDrive, SnapMirror and FlexVol.

This joint solution is designed to simplify management of the messaging and archive environments, and enables NetApp's cascading Snapshot copies approach for archive data protection. The resulting combination enables customers to deploy smaller storage footprints for e-mail archives, improve their archive recovery times and reduce their associated archive management costs, according to Mimosa.

The NetApp-Mimosa solution is designed to centralize the management of business and retention policies so IT organizations can better control the disposition and retention of critical information content. By archiving user-generated business data in a central, intelligent repository, enterprises are equipped to perform discovery, auditing, disposition and business intelligence tasks to decrease information risk.
