ADOBE EXPANDS ACROBATAdobe Systems Inc., San Jose, Calif., introduced Adobe Acrobat Connect software, a Web conference and collaboration product with "always-on" personal meeting rooms. It is designed to enable workers to connect online instantly with a Web browser and the ubiquitous Flash Player software. Together with Adobe Acrobat 8 software the expanded Acrobat family accelerates the flow of business by allowing people to work together in real-time, according to Adobe. The new, extended Acrobat family brings together the two critical components of knowledge work-documents and people. Acrobat Connect enables users to choose a Web address for their online personal meeting room, with unlimited use for up to 15 participants for one monthly fee.

SETTLEMENTROOM ADOPTS RPOST'S E-MAIL SERVICE

Agents and brokers who rely on marked up faxes to negotiate deals now have an easier, more secure, legally binding-and paperless-alternative. RPost and SettlementRoom have agreed to embed Los Angeles-based RPost's Registered E-mail service in the SettlementRoom listing and transaction management platform. The combination gives the 80,000 SettlementRoom registered users the ability to track, record and verify the content of their e-mail messages. Agents, brokers, title companies, lenders and builders can conduct business by e-mail and retain a verifiable and legally valid registered e-mail record of their correspondence. According to Zafar Khan, CEO of RPost: "Once people start using e-mail for serious negotiations and confirmations-which most of us do even without realizing it-it's just a matter of time before one ends up in a dispute about the content of an important e-mail, or whether or not the email was ever sent at all."

NEW SOA TOOL OFFERS DRAG AND DROP

XAware Inc., a Colorado Springs, Colo., provider of integration software released XA-Suite 4.3, the latest version of XAware's flagship service oriented architecture (SOA) solution.

The new suite features enhanced graphical views and drag-and-drop capabilities, allowing users to quickly and easily configure and reuse business components, therefore decreasing time spent on development and maintenance of business services. Included with the new version is XA-Tracer, which allows the user to step through the application and observe the application flow as it is processed.

SECURE AUTHENTICATION

BioPassword Inc., an Issaquah, Wash., provider of secure authentication and anti-fraud solutions to financial services companies, will partner with NAFCU Services Corp., Arlington, Va., to offer BioPassword's two-factor authentication solution.

The solution, based on the behavioral biometric of keystroke dynamics, is designed to ensure strong authentication and compliance with federal regulations. The software is transparent to users as it authenticates individuals based on their typing rhythm and does not disrupt their usual login process. Using BioPassword to monitor and authenticate users, organizations can implement secure access, comply with regulatory requirements and reduce the risks of fraud.

DATABASE SECURITY AND COMPLIANCE

San Jose, Calif.-based IPLocks Inc. released IPLocks Database Security and Compliance Solution Version 6.0. Report capabilities include pre-packaged SOX report templates and a custom report engine to consolidate and extract information easily, saving time and money. Performance and usability enhancements, including Audit Trail Filter, and a SQL Capture Filter are designed for high-transaction environments and ease of product administration. Rule chaining enables real-time, automated decision-making for responding to suspicious activities and terminating sessions to provide stronger ties to workflow and ticketing systems.

IP-ENABLED MOBILE NETWORK

A multi-phase partnership between Reston, Va.-based TerreStar Network Inc. and Montreal-based CGI Group Inc. will support the launch of an all IP-enabled mobile network. CGI will provide TerreStar a broad range of consulting and support services based on its experience with IMS-based (IP Multimedia Subsystem) service delivery. Initially, CGI and TerreStar defined the Operational Support Systems and Business Support Systems (OSS-BSS) architectures and conducted an evaluation process to create solutions that bring best-of-breed technology to TerreStar's overall mobile communications service. As existing service providers and small, medium and large enterprises ramp up 4G networks, they will require an all IP, web services oriented OSS-BSS infrastructure.

STORING FAXES ELECTRONICALLY

MyFax Internet fax service from by Protus IP Solutions, Ottawa, Ontario, is designed to eliminate the need to scan faxed pages in order to store them electronically in their document management systems and enable users to safely and effectively send, receive and digitally store faxes using an e-mail account or the Web. Faxes are transmitted and received as electronic documents so they are already in a format that is compatible with most document management systems, including proprietary ones.

DOCUMENT MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE EASES TASKS

Optical Image Technology Inc., based in State College, Pa, released the 9.0.5.7 upgrade of DocFinity PowerIndexing, adding the product to the DocFinity suite of document management software. The product is designed to use data auto-population, validation and integration to ease manual indexing of PDF, Word, Excel and image for storage and subsequent retrieval. The release focuses attention on Windows integration. Windows authentication allows administrators to provide system security without requiring end users to memorize additional passwords or enter more logins. Integration with Windows "Send To" allows users to open documents or directories of documents directly in PowerIndexing for automatic import into the DocFinity system. A PowerIndexing scheme is set up for each document type and users can switch between schemes on the fly so they know what information they need to gather for each document and how to enter that information efficiently.

RISKMETER NOW OFFERING FLOOD ELEVATION REPORT

CDS Business Mapping LLC, a Boston-based provider of online property risk mapping, added a flood elevation report to its RiskMeter Online product. By typing in an address, users can retrieve information on FEMA flood zones, the distance to a flood zone, estimated base flood elevation, elevation at a location, estimated height above a flood zone, estimated water depth in a flood zone and an optional aerial photo. RiskMeter's flood elevation report serves as a tool for underwriters to dig deeper in evaluating flood risk. The report can benefit insurance agents by showing them where the flood risk lies. RiskMeter Online automates property risk reports. It can perform more than 30 lookups, including distance to the coast, rating territory, flood zone, windpool eligibility, proximity to brush and EQ hazards.
