Stable Insurance, a rideshare-centered insurtech, is partnering with Driver Technologies, Inc., an AI-based mobility tech company, to offer a discount for a lower premium to rideshare drivers. Stable Insurance, through the new partnership, will offer a premium version of the Driver Technologies "Driver" mobile app, which includes a dash cam and other related mobility assistance and safety-related features.

Driver Technologies is also offering customers new iPhone SEs or iPads and accessories to rideshare drivers that do not own a compatible device; those who agree to use a dash cam while driving can receive up to a 20% discount on their auto insurance premiums and may be eligible to reduce their collision deductible in the event of an accident.

The partnership aims to provide customers with specialized commercial auto insurance that is uniquely designed for rideshare drivers. Stable's transitional commercial auto policy is specifically built to offer coverage for both personal and commercial coverage and reduces gaps in coverage that rideshare drivers may experience with traditional policies.

"Historically, vehicles have been driven for personal use. Traditional auto insurance was developed to address these personal driving miles," writes John Salvucci, co-founder of Stable Insurance, in an email to Digital Insurance. "However, with the advent of rideshare platforms like Uber and Lyft, over one million drivers in the U.S. now use their vehicles for personal and commercial uses. Some insurance carriers have created ways to modify a personal auto policy, but Stable has reimagined the coverage and built a new solution to more completely address the insurance needs of rideshare drivers."

As part of the Driver app, the DriverPremium feature gives users access to their telematics information, the ability to store and share dash cam video recordings for claims, and receive claims-related guidance and information.

"Users can record and store internal and external video footage, and trips will automatically be synced to the cloud with easy access through the app or any web browser," explains Rashid Galadanci, CEO and co-founder of Driver Technologies. "Users maintain complete control of their data stored on the DriverCloud and can choose to share their driving videos, AI analysis, safety warnings, and location with interested parties such as employers, insurers, and family members. The ability to share video with an insurance provider or employer via a cloud link versus traditional hardware helps to shorten the claims process and gets drivers back on the road sooner."

The DriverRoadside feature, which offers roadside assistance, is also available through the Driver app and is supported by HONK, a provider of roadside aid and towing services. HONK team members may offer additional support to riders who have experienced an accident through recording and photographing the incident for claims purposes.

"Stable is proud to have created this innovative approach, providing greater protection and cost savings for many hard-working gig drivers," adds Salvucci.

Driver Technologies also recently announced a new partnership with Marble, an insurance management platform, in which Marble users will also have access to the Driver app and dash cam functionality. Marble customers using the mobile driving management system are also eligible for three months of access to Driver's DriverPremium services.

"At Marble, we want to help consumers manage their insurance policies and risk all in one place; therefore, partnering with Driver Technologies was one of the key partnerships we wanted to establish to help our users directly tie their rewards to their auto insurance," said Stuart Winchester, CEO and Founder of Marble, in a press release statement. "In the future, we hope to expand our partnership with Driver to incorporate its DriverCloud and telematics capabilities to reward our users who practice safe driving habits with additional rewards."
