Standard Insurance Appoints New Executives For Employee Benefits Division

PORTLAND, Ore.-- Standard Insurance Company, a subsidiary of StanCorp Financial Group, Inc. has appointed Brad Nantz as vice president of Sales and Ellen Steel as vice president of Operations for the Employee Benefits Division.

"Brad and Ellen are proven leaders with broad organizational knowledge," said Greg Ness, senior vice president, Employee Benefits. "They each fill important roles in our organization, and I have high confidence in their ability to build on our past successes."

In his new role, Nantz is responsible for the employee benefits sales organization including 42 sales and service offices nationwide, sales operations and Executive Benefits Income Protection. In 1987, Nantz joined the company as manager of the Eugene, Ore., sales and service office. Throughout his tenure, Nantz has held numerous key roles and managerial positions within The Standard's Employee Benefits Division, most recently as vice president of Operations.

As vice president of Operations, Steel is responsible for underwriting, contracts, billing, commissions, national accounts and building and maintaining the customer service infrastructure. Steel began her career at the company in 1982 and has been leading The Standard's claim organization for the last 12 years, most recently serving as vice president of Benefits.

Steel is currently the chair of the American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI) Disability Committee and serves as the legislative liaison to the Oregon/Washington chapter of the Disability Management Employers Coalition. She holds the professional designations of Fellow, Life Office Management Institute (FLMI), Associate of Life and Health Claims (ALHC) and Certified Professional in Disability Management (CPDM).
