State Farm Launches Driver Feedback Instructor Edition

State Farm has launched Driver Feedback Instructor Edition, a mobile app designed to help driver- education instructors access, record, organize and monitor the progress of students during behind-the-wheel instruction. The app also informs parents about their teens’ driving results.

The instructor edition offers features intended to help instructors manage multiple students or classes, record notes and download driving data for analysis, State Farm said. For each trip, the app calculates and delivers an objective trip score and measures individual scores for acceleration, braking and cornering. The better the driving, the higher the score, State Farm said.

“The Driver Feedback Instructor Edition app is an excellent tool that allows you to provide detailed feedback to students in real-time,” said Neil Sanders, a driver-education instructor who served as an advisor and tester. “I like how it records students’ progress each time they drive and then gives you the capability to go back and compare previous trips to show student growth.”

As students master slow and smooth acceleration, braking and cornering, their scores increase, State Farm said. Students may track their own progress and strive to improve upon their previous driving performance. Individual data can be texted or emailed to students and parents. The app builds on the functionality of Driver Feedback, and is available for iOS and Android mobile devices for free.
