State Farm Launches Vehicle Recognition App

State Farm announced its latest mobile application, CarCapture, which uses object recognition technology to allow consumers to capture a picture of the back of a vehicle and instantaneously obtain detailed information that can help in making car buying decisions.

Using CarCapture, which is available for iOS and Android mobile operating systems, consumers can take a photo of a car and receive information such as make, model, body type, year range, vehicle features, safety information, available options, consumer reviews, Edmunds True Market Value, potential dealership locations and State Farm insurance quotes.

“Consumers are relying more and more on mobile devices,” said Jack Weekes, who leads the State Farm Innovation Team. “By accessing the CarCapture app, car buyers can easily search for cars in a remarkable new way.”

Once a consumer has selected a vehicle, the app offers an option to get an insurance quote or find a car. Additional platforms and features will be added in future updates, State Farm says.
