Survey Foresees Static IT Personnel Numbers

Most CIOs are content with their headcount according to the latest IT Hiring Index and Skills Report from Menlo Park, Calif.-based Robert Half Technology. The survey of 1,400 CIOs from across industries found a majority of respondents—83%—plan to maintain current staffing levels in the next three months. Conversely, only 8% plan to add staff, and only 6% said they plan on reducing IT personnel.

Among the other findings was that help desk, technical support and networking are the job areas experiencing the most growth.

“Not surprisingly, companies are being more judicious when hiring in today’s economic environment,” says Dave Willmer, executive director of Robert Half Technology. “Budgets must support critical IT projects, and companies are re-examining their staffing needs accordingly.”
