The Hartford Names a New Chief Claims Officer

The Hartford has named John Kinney as chief claims officer and president of Heritage Holdings. Kinney will lead The Hartford’s P&C and group benefits claims operations, along with its more than 5,000 employees. He will report to Doug Elliot, president of commercial markets at The Hartford.

The Hartford says Kinney joined the company in 2003, most recently having led the P&C field claims organization. He was responsible for workers’ compensation, automobile, property and general liability claims handling and claims customer support. His previous role at Heritage Holdings focused on complex claims, including asbestos, silica, environmental damage and other latent injury long tail claims.

Prior to joining The Hartford, Kinney held various legal positions in Travelers’ Special Liability Group, where he focused on the management of asbestos litigation, The Hartford adds.
