The Hartford has named Ray Sprague EVP of Personal Lines, effective immediately. Sprague had been acting head of the unit and head of strategy and business development since a restructuring last April. In his new position, he reports to Doug Elliot, president of The Hartford.
“Ray is a proven leader with broad and deep property and casualty experience,” Elliot said in a statement. “In his short time as acting head of Personal Lines, his passion for building talented teams, improving execution and driving profitable growth has already had a positive impact on the business.”
The Hartford intends to fill Sprague’s strategy role, in which he worked acriss business units to identify new product and distribution opportunities and other growth initiatives, with a new executive.
Sprague joined The Hartford in 1985 and has held leadership positions of increasing responsibility including oversight for the company’s Commercial business.
