The Standard promotes two in I.T.

Life insurer The Standard has made two promotions in its IT department.

Laxman Prakash is named assistant VP and CISO. He had been second VP for information security. Prakash joined the company in 2011 as director of information security and business continuity. Before that, he was a senior portfolio manager for Wipro Technologies and a manager for KPMG.

“Laxman has steadily advanced our capabilities in information security, business continuity and third-party risk management,” said Greg Chandler, vice president of Information Technology at The Standard.

In addition, Greg Chandler has been promoted to vice president of IT, a new role covering business systems development and maintenance, program and project management, enterprise supplier management, Lean Center of Excellence and enterprise architecture and infrastructure. Chandler joined The Standard in 2008 after holding positions at IBM, Cabletron Systems and Novell.

“Greg is a seasoned leader at The Standard who has the skills and leadership attributes to continue building on the great momentum in our IT organization,” said Greg Ness, president, chairman and chief executive officer at The Standard. "He will be an excellent addition to our executive team."
