United General Insurance to Launch Pay-As-You-Drive

United General Insurance Company, an African insurer, will implement Inseego’s Ctrack telematics product for a new pay-how-you-drive insurance product.

Ctrack uses on-board devices to gather and monitor data related to driver behavior including accidents, fuel consumption and mileage. The goal of the new product is to incent drivers to drive less recklessly and reduce the number of accidents, especially in United General’s home country of Malawi. A thousand units have already been deployed to customers, but the goal is to get all policyholders using telematics eventually.

“With communication central to influencing change, we are confident that Ctrack will transform UGI’s relationship with its customers from one of necessity to one of mutual benefit,” says JW Oberholzer, Ctrack’s International Channel Manager for Africa.
