Unitrin Direct Adds DRC’s Homeowners

Honolulu Decision Research Corp. (DRC), a rating and policy processing software solution provider to the property & casualty insurance industry, announced today that Chicago-based Unitrin Direct has expanded its production use of DRC’s DecisionMaker Policy Administration Suite to include its homeowners line of business. The company, which went live with its implementation within seven months from contract signing in three states, currently supports homeowners business in 10 states.

“With DecisionMaker, we’re easily able to continue to support our policy growth and market expansion,” said Michael Stahl, director of product management at Unitrin Direct. “With the flexibility and speed to market of the system, we can add new lines of business such as direct-to-consumer homeowners, condo-owners, and renters products in a reasonable timeframe and without disrupting the ongoing operation and service.”

“We were already familiar with DecisionMaker and DRC given our earlier implementation of the auto system. So, when it came time to invest in a system to handle our property lines, it made sense for us to turn to DRC once again,” commented John Elcock, vice president and CIO of Unitrin Direct. “We have a very good working relationship with DRC and the combination of DRC’s system capability and the skills of the DRC and Unitrin Direct teams made it a very successful implementation.”
