Unum Launches Mobile Claims App

Disability insurer Unum has launched a new mobile app intended to help customers manage disability claims, and family and medical leave events. It is available in the Apple, Android and Windows app stores. The app complements a suite of online claims tools designed to enable customers to manage most claims from submission through ongoing benefit payment, Unum said.

“Customers today expect easy-to-use online options for interacting with us,” said Laura Beckmann, VP of Unum’s Benefits Center. “The app shares many capabilities with our secure claims website – meaning employees get prompt service, even when they’re on the go.”

The app uses a phone’s camera to capture and upload images of documents and authorization forms that are needed to evaluate claims, the insurer said. Users can monitor their claims’ status by reviewing correspondence, checking payment information and verifying or changing personal information. It also offers a direct dial feature to a service representative for customers who need additional help.
