The National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) says estimates for the number of vehicles damaged as a result of Sandy are now at a total of 250,000 damaged vehicles, up 20,000 since Dec. 10, 2012.

NICB points out that these insured loss figures may change as additional claims are received and processed. Moreover, they represent a range of damage—anywhere from minor paint scratches from flying debris to total losses.
