Webby Awards Seeking Top Insurance Sites

New York – Still searching for applicants, the 12th Annual Webby Awards is accepting entries for its Best Insurance Site of the Year category until Dec. 14, 2007

The Webby Awards is an international award honoring excellence on the Internet, including Web sites, interactive advertising, online film and video, and mobile Web sites.

“The insurance industry is doing some of the most interesting and innovative work on the Internet today,” says David-Michel Davies, executive director of the Webby Awards. “The Webby Awards is an exciting opportunity for insurance industry leaders to share the stage and international spotlight with some of the world’s leading Internet luminaries and innovators.”

eHealthInsurance Services Inc.’s Web site, www.ehealthinsurance.com, took home the top insurance prize at the last year’s Webby Awards on June 5, 2007. Based in Mountain View, Calif., eHealthInsurance is an online source of health insurance for individuals, families and small businesses. Other notable nominees included Northbrook, Ill.-based Allstate Insurance Co.: It Takes a Thief and Marina Towers; Columbus, Ohio-based Nationwide Mutual Insurance Co. – Times Square; and Mayfield Village, Ohio-based Progressive Casualty Insurance Co.
 
The Webby Awards is presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, a 550-person judging academy.

To enter a Web site in the 12th Annual Webby Awards, visit www.webbyawards.com. The early entry deadline is Oct. 26, 2007. Insurance industry sites can also enter in interactive advertising categories and feature categories such as Best Navigation and Best Copy Writing. Nominees will be announced in April, and winners will be honored at the gala ceremony in June 2008. In keeping with Webby tradition, all winners’ speeches are limited to just five words.
