4 Insurers Named as Best Companies for Multicultural Women

Four insurance companies have been named as 2014’s “Best Companies for Multicultural Women” by Working Mother magazine. Those companies are Allstate Insurance, New York Life Insurance, State Farm and WellPoint.

Best Companies for Multicultural Women recognizes the 25 U.S. corporations that create and use best practices in hiring, retaining and promoting women of color. The 2014 Working Mother Best Companies for Multicultural Women application includes more than 200 questions on representation; hiring, attrition and promotion rates; recruitment, retention and advancement programs; and company culture.

The Working Mother Research Institute creates a scoring algorithm based on the previous year’s benchmark results, which then determines the winners. Company profiles are culled from the survey applications and reflect 2012 data. The best companies follow a methodology of recruiting, hiring, retaining, promoting a company culture, and preparing and promoting the women of color.

“The Best Companies for Multicultural Women are leaders in building an inclusive culture so that women of color can thrive and lead,” said Carol Evans, president of Working Mother Media. “We are proud of the policies and programs these winning companies support. Creating a culture of inclusion and authenticity is essential for all companies that want to have access to the top talent needed to drive their business.”
