AAA's Florida insurance subsidiary launches UBI

Auto Club South Insurance Company has launched AAADrive to track and improve driving behavior for AAA members and insurance consumers.

The newest iteration of the platform, which was soft-launched in October 2018, incorporates technology from The Floow. It allows AAA customers the ability to see scores based on their driving behavior, tracked by and delivered on their smartphones, with access to policy discounts. It is currently only available in Florida, where it is the first smartphone- based UBI program certified by the Florida Office of Insurance Regulations.

Rated on several attributes including, smoothness, speed, time of day, fatigue, and distraction, members' driving trips are individually scored and can be viewed on application. AAADrive users can earn up to 30 percent of discounted rates toward insurance premium.

With a good relationship for several years and being one of the first telematics platforms using mobile phone sensors, AAA collaborations with The Floow were a good fit, according to John Kramer, Vice President and Head of North American Operations, The Floow.

“If we can make them successful, then we’re saving some lives on the road and that’s awesome,” shared Kramer.
