Aetna Expands Mobile Presence to Latin America

Aetna launched its “Latin America Provider Directory” mobile app, which helps customers find nearby doctors and hospitals, get directions and link to information about what to do before and after appointments. It also simplifies adding appointments to electronic calendars and offers content in Spanish, Portuguese and English.

“We know that traveling or moving to a new country is stressful. Needing a doctor on top of adjusting to a new country can be especially stressful,” said Eugene Marks, Aetna International’s general manager of the Americas. “Our goal is to make sure our global customers can easily find health care wherever they might be.”

The app is the latest in a series; the company also has directory apps of providers in Europe, the Middle East, Southeast Asia and Shanghai. The apps are free and available for iPhone and Android. In addition to the provider directory apps, Aetna also offers a claims submission app for members outside the United States. Aetna also offers apps to help members understand symptoms, monitor exercise and eating habits and track claims.
