Aon Active Health Exchange Expands Coverage Options

Aon Hewitt, the talent, retirement and health applications business of Aon Plc., is expanding the coverage options offered under the Aon Active Health Exchange for 2015.

The Aon Active Health Exchange is a private exchange for large employers, offering insured group health plans from multiple insurance companies. It is designed to create a competitive market for benefits that offers individuals choice and transparency over their health benefits, the company said.

Through the Aon Active Health Exchange, consumers will have access to education and decision support applications to help them purchase the right coverage and understand how their elective benefits align with their overall benefits package. Participating employers will have the option of offering their employees a range of elective benefit plans during this fall's annual enrollment season. The elective benefits that can be offered on the Aon Active Health Exchange for coverage beginning Jan. 1, 2015, include critical illness, accident, hospital indemnity, life, long-term disability, identity theft, legal, home/auto and pet insurance.

"More and more employers are looking beyond just medical and dental to offer an array of elective benefits that support employees' overall 'wellbeing,' including their physical, financial, emotional and social health," said Cary Grace, CEO of Aon Exchange Solutions. "The Aon Active Health Exchange enables employers to offer the elective benefits most relevant to their employee population in a retail shopping environment, where they can easily compare their elective benefit options and select the plans that are right for them and their families.”
