AXIS hires data leader from Zurich

AXIS Insurance, a business segment of AXIS Capital Holdings Limited, announced the appointment of Meghan Anzelc, Ph.D., as vice president of data and analytics.

Dr. Anzelc will be responsible for for implementing a strategy to expand AXIS’ data and analytics capabilities. Prior to joining AXIS, Anzelc, who is a physicist and data scientist, was vice president and lead data scientist for Zurich North America, where she led a team of 40 data scientists who were responsible for integrating predictive analytics across the company’s underwriting and claims functions.

“Meghan is an accomplished data scientist and a proven leader with a strong understanding of the specialty insurance space,” said Brian Kemp, executive vice president and chief pricing actuary at AXIS. “She is the ideal candidate to help take AXIS Insurance’s data and analytics strategy to the next level.”

AXIS has been investing in big data and analytics capabilities across the company. The carrier held a hackathon for students to develop a big-data underwriting solution earlier this year.
