BCBS of Minnesota Selects Inovalon's HIX Services

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota, the state’s largest health plan, is expanding its use of Inovalon’s data-driven health care solutions to include the provider’s Health Insurance Marketplace services.

Inovalon's health insurance exchange  services address key challenges facing health plans in the areas of risk score accuracy, risk score verification processes, quality measurements and improvements, regulatory data submissions and medical record audit support. Inovalon offers these capabilities to health plans seeking to compete in the public health exchange marketplace with Qualified Health Plans as defined by the Affordable Care Act.

Using Inovalon’s Health Insurance Marketplace, “Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota will promote a wider, more economical and timely availability of health services for the people of Minnesota," Sandy Hill, senior director of the health care reform and exchange office at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota, said in statement. "The expansion of our partnership with Inovalon will provide additional capabilities and insights … tailored to each member's specific health care needs."

Inovalon has provided risk adjustment, quality measurement and improvement, claims aggregation, analysis and submission, medical record audit support, business intelligence, and financial reporting solutions for BCBS of Minnesota’s Commercial and Medicare Advantage populations since 2004. Under the terms of their expanded partnership, Inovalon will extend its services to include commercial HIX Marketplace risk score accuracy, medical record audits, business intelligence and financial reporting, as well as some technical supports.

Headquartered in Bowie, Md., Inovalon provides solutions that use health care data to improve clinical outcomes, care management and financial performance for the healthcare industry. Inovalon solutions are utilized by more than 540,000 physicians and 220,000 clinical facilities throughout the United States.
