After a period of relative silence for Warren Buffet's newest insurance arm, Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance hired James Roser as CIO.

Roser most recently served as IT head of global insurance, global reinsurance and associated infrastructure at Markel Inc. Prior to that, Roser was VP at Alterra Capital, which Markel acquired earlier this year.

He has also spent nearly 10 years at Travelers in various roles, including VP of information systems; CIO for bond and financial products business; and commercial insurance program office/merger integration lead. He also worked in the insurance and financial services practice at Accenture.

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty continued to make headlines over the Summer as Buffet worked rapidly to hire executives to run it and open for business.
