Business Objects Aquires Firstlogic

San Jose, Calif. - Business Objects S.A., a provider of business intelligence (BI) solutions, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire privately held Firstlogic Inc., a La Crosse, Wis.-based global provider of enterprise data quality solutions and services.

Business Objects' goal of the approximately $69-million-cash acquisition is to provide customers with a single, consistent view of their businesses, improve the trust and confidence in the information needed to make better decisions, and accelerate compliance initiatives, while building on Firstlogic's enterprise information management (EIM).

Eric Lieberman, president of Firstlogic Inc., says the announcement affirms the importance of data quality technology to ensuring that business decisions are made on a foundation of correct and complete data. "We expect this acquisition to help customers build stronger BI infrastructures, thus accelerating the growth and success of their BI deployments and giving them a more accurate view of their businesses," he says.

"EIM will play an increasingly vital role in the business intelligence market," says John Schwarz, CEO of Business Objects. "As companies face the multiple pressures of regulatory compliance, expanding numbers of data sources, the need for real-time operations, and the ability to link data to performance management initiatives, customers are demanding an EIM solution that can help them scale with these fast changing dynamics.

The acquisition is subject to regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions and is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2006.
