Chubb's ePolicy Increases Efficiency, Reduces Waste

Warren, N.J.–The Chubb Group of Insurance Companies has created ePolicy, a secure electronic insurance policy, to streamline the delivery of personal insurance policies and reduce environmental waste.

“Not only will ePolicy shorten the policy distribution process by several days, it also will enable customers to receive their policies in a more secure format,” says Andrew McElwee, executive vice president of Chubb & Son, and chief operating officer of Chubb Personal Insurance. “Furthermore, ePolicy will help reduce the amount of trees consumed and the pollution caused by the byproducts of paper production.”

Chubb’s ePolicy will enable customers to receive their policies and related policy documents via e-mail and store them electronically as securely encrypted PDF attachments. Since the policy is stored electronically, customers can access it on their laptops at any time anywhere in the world.

“Beginning in September, we will phase-in and promote our new ePolicy nationwide,” McElwee says. “If 20% of our customers opt to receive ePolicy renewals and endorsements, we will save approximately 1,000 trees and nearly 1 million gallons of water and prevent the creation of 46 tons of solid waste and emission of 113 tons of greenhouse gases.”
