Colin Powell To Speak at IASA Conference

Durham, N.C. -- Former Secretary of State Colin L. Powell is slated to address the Insurance Accounting & Systems Association 2007 IASA Annual Educational Conference and Business Show in Minneapolis June 4.

``We are so pleased that Gen. Powell has agreed to speak to the IASA audience,'' said Joe Pomilia, executive director for the Durham, N.C.-based IASA. ``His experiences with some of life's toughest possible challenges are a testament to his strength of character, and something that I'm sure our attendees will appreciate from both personal and professional perspectives.''

Powell served as the 65th secretary of state during the George W. Bush administration and as national security advisor in the Reagan administration. During a 35-year career in the United States Army he rose to four-star general and chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

``Gen. Powell is the perfect addition to the 2007 IASA Annual Conference,'' said Steve Meziere, president of IASA and president of Life of America Insurance Co. ``We have a very powerful theme for next year -- Learning Today, Leading Tomorrow -- and Gen. Powell certainly embodies much of what we are striving to convey.''

Since returning to private life, Powell has become a strategic limited partner at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, a Silicon Valley venture capital firm. He serves on the boards of several companies and foundations, and he is the author of a best-selling autobiography, My American Journey.

Besides hearing about Powell's experiences, show attendees will have opportunities to network with colleagues, visit more than 200 exhibit booths and earn CPE credits for nearly 70 sessions in life/health, property/casualty and reinsurance.
