Companion Property & Casualty Announces New President

BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina (BCBSSC) announced George Reeth as the new president of its subsidiary, Companion Property & Casualty Insurance Group.

Most recently, Reeth was a founder Validus Holdings Ltd. in 2005, which has become a top global reinsurance company as he has maintained the roles of president and deputy chairman of the board of directors, according to BCBSSC. He has more than 30 years of experience in the insurance and reinsurance industries. This includes a stint as a senior executive with Willis Group Ltd. and as CEO of North American Reinsurance Operations for Willis Re Inc.

Reeth replaces Charles Potok, who helped create Companion Property & Casualty and oversaw its growth for 27 years until he retired this year.

Companion Property & Casualty is one of the largest subsidiaries under BlueCross’ umbrella of companies. It offers workers’ compensation insurance to South Carolina workers, and has since expanded to a multi-line insurance company that is licensed in 49 states.
