CSC Appoints President, CEO

CSC, an IT services company, appointed Mike Lawrie as president and CEO. Lawrie will join the company no later than March 31, 2012, and will succeed Michael W. Laphen, who had announced his plan to retire as the company’s chairman, president and CEO.

The CSC board of directors says Rodney F. Chase, a current director on the company’s board, has been appointed non-executive chairman of the board of directors, effective upon Lawrie’s start as president and CEO. Lawrie also has been appointed to CSC’s board, effective immediately. Lawrie currently is CEO of Misys Plc., an IT solutions for the financial services industry company.

Lawrie has extensive global experience in the IT and software industry, says CSC, including 27 years at IBM, where he served as senior VP and group executive with responsibility for sales and distribution. Lawrie also was general manager for IBM’s EMEA business, which included operations in 124 countries and more than 90,000 employees at the time. Prior, he was general manager of industries for IBM’s business operations in Asia Pacific.

CSC says that, as CEO at Misys, Lawrie has helped drive growth in shareholder value and client satisfaction. He served as the executive chairman of Allscripts-Misys Healthcare Solutions Inc., an electronic health record solutions company, and was instrumental in the transformational merger of Misys’ healthcare division with Allscripts as well as its subsequent merger with healthcare IT solutions provider Eclipsys.
