Daimler Financial Services Names New CIO

Daimler Financial Services has named Udo Neumann global CIO.

The unit of the automaker Daimler provides insurance and other financial services to automotive customers. The company is also exploring ridesharing and autonomous vehicles; a reason that Neumann will remain headquartered in the U.S. Daimler Financial Services is the parent of the Car2Go on-demand auto-borrowing company and taxi-hailing app Mytaxi.

"With Udo's exceptional record of success and leadership in the IT space, I am confident he will continue to build and expand our global digital transformation strategy, said Kaus Entenmann, Daimler Financial Services chairman of the board, in a statement. "By positioning this critical leadership role in the U.S., we will further strengthen our connection to the disruptive trends and emerging technologies of the Silicon Valley innovation ecosystem, as well as the global overall tech industry, to bring the digital solutions to market that meet the evolving needs of our business, our customers and our dealers."

Neumann last held the same role for Mercedes-Benz Financial Services.
